5 Things To Do This Week

A fantastic week, so get those deadlines out of the way!

Chloe Sawyer

University Challenge Auditions: If you think you can do better than last year’s rather infamous team (hint: you probably can), this Wednesday is your chance to prove it! Take this quiz in preparation, and then be at the Union between 2 and 4pm for the real contest. Callbacks on Monday 18th for the talented among us!

PhotoSoc Exhibition and Auction: The photographers of St Andrews are mixing it up this week, with an ‘exhibauction’ in Venue 1! The walls will be lined with art and photography authored by our very own peers, complimentary wine and soft drinks will be flowing, and at 9pm the bidding will begin. They’ve recruited the fantastic and charismatic Dr Katherine Rudy, a famous name in the School of Art History, to act as auctioneer, so if your walls are looking a little bare now is the time to fill that space. A wonderful and innovative event which will no doubt be a roaring success!

RAG Launch: The all-new, rebranded RaisingAndGiving launches this Friday in preparation for next semester. They’re promising a new look to the charitable festivities, with free wine and a special RAG-themed cocktail too. It’s free entry, with a DJ and the whole works, right up until 2am! Gotta love charity.

GMD Dress Clinic: Another load of balls (lololol) are just around the corner, and the ladies of Girl Meets Dress are throwing the perfect event to find your perfect dress. Fill in a form letting them know what styles you would love hanging in your wardrobe, then turn up to the Rusacks Hotel this Sunday to try on some awesome designer styles, enjoy some afternoon tea and maybe make that perfect 600th rental.

Conflict-Free St Andrews Photography Exhibition: It’s a great week for the photographically-inclined among us, as the “This is Congo” exhibition aims to demonstrate that the country is more than ‘the world’s worst place to be a woman’. Complete with a DJ, wine reception, raffle and print sales, all proceeds will be going to the worthiest of causes, the Panzi hospital for survivors of sexual violence. Saturday at 7pm.
