Students Take Revenge Over Their Stolen Hoover

Students of Fife Park reacted to their stolen hoover in the most ostentatious way possible.

Following the theft of their hoover, the residents of Castle Flat 10 borrowed every available Henry Hoover in their building, and took them on a photoshoot around the scenic St Andrews.

The flat’s hoover was originally borrowed by a neighbour, but was not returned safely. The missing hoover created a vendetta between the two flats. One of the residents described the disappearance of their hoover as a “cold blooded-kidnap”.  Simple revenge, in their eyes, was not enough for the group, instead they decided to one-up their neighbours.

The group of five borrowed every Henry Hoover they could find within their building. After turning all eight on at once, and pushing the limits of their sockets, the hoovers were taken on a photoshoot around the town.

Taking place on the same night as Welly Ball, the hoovers were paid little attention to, except a few turning heads. When questioned by members of the town, the group claimed they were members of the Henry Hoover society.

The hoovers were taken around many iconic landmarks in St Andrews, where famous celebrities and world leaders such as Barack Obama and Rory McIlroy have had their photos taken. These locations include, and are not limited to, the Pier, St Salvator’s Quad, and the Swilcan Bridge. The group also took particular pride in taking the hoovers to the St Andrews Castle, in order to make a particular remark at the name of their accommodation, the scene of the original crime.

The photos were then sent in their accommodation group chat. Luckily, everyone saw the funny side and the hoovers were returned in due course. While it received little recognition over social media, such as Overheard at St Andrews, the group received recognition in larger publications, for example, The Sun, The Metro and The Scottish Daily Record.
