The Blue Stane briefly closed its doors for repairs following a fire on Tuesday 7 February.
Shortly before 9 pm, customers complained of smoke in the men’s toilets. When a bartender entered to investigate, he reported being unable to see through the smoke. The restaurant was promptly evacuated.
Firefighters warned neighbouring restaurant Balaka to prepare for evacuation; however, the fire was successfully contained. None were injured at either establishment.
It remains unclear how the fire started. The Blue Stane remained closed on Wednesday 8 February, reopening at 6 pm for business as usual.
