The hype surrounding FS grows day by day, as one of the most glamorous events of the St Andrews calendar draws closer. Expect champagne, couture, and glitzy goody bags: The show boasts hedonistic elegance down to the finest detail. FS has built a well-established reputation within the university as one of the most spectacular student experiences, with the substance of the show itself and its polished organisation making it a worthy rival of any professional fashion show.

This year is FS’s 25th anniversary, and its theme is “On the Pulse.” We can expect it to be greater and more lustrous than ever. Such an occasion calls for a carefully curated outfit! Whether you choose to go creative or classic, the dress code here is very much a call for competition of the best dressed.

Although an elegant affair, this is not a ball. The live music acts, variety of designers on display and the general fashion forward atmosphere radiate creativeness and originality, so don’t hesitate to be imaginative or daring with your outfit. If you want to stand out, go for a brightly coloured dress, bold prints, or textured embroidery and sparkles.

A more comfortable option could be a wide-legged, culotte style jumpsuit. Consider venturing into the unknown: If you usually shy from colour, opt for a timeless red lip or statement heels to brighten up a black dress.

Likewise, if you would rather keep it classic, there’s nothing wrong with re-wearing a favourite dress of yours which you know you’ll be complemented in.

The prestige of the event has captured the attention of magazines such as Tatler and the New York Times, so you remember that you will want to dress to impress. If you wouldn’t wear it to London Fashion Week, should you be wearing it for FS?
