FS Cancelled, Possibility of Rescheduling

High winds put a halt to the most anticipated event of the school year.

Read our review of the event here.

Pre-drinks were in full swing before one of the largest charity events of the year. Hardly half an hour before its scheduled start time, FS was cancelled.

The cancelation was allegedly due to weather conditions, which meant the marquee would breach health and safety conditions.

“Dear Guests,

It is with deep regret that we must inform you that the event has been cancelled due to the wind and inclement weather. It has been a joint decision made by the University of St Andrews, the security company, and our production company in order to ensure the safety of our guests. We will be in touch with more information as soon as possible and we greatly appreciate everyone’s support in this decision. We are saddened to announce this after so much planning and excitement, but ultimately feel that it is the best decision given the circumstances.

Thank you,

The FS17 Committee”

Despite their sincerity, comments on the post were not as apologetic; many expressing their disappointment and frustration. One person particularly made their feelings clear as they challenged the group’s decision:

While some were angry about their evening plans being cancelled, others had concerns regarding refunds for their wasted journey on plane tickets. Many of the event’s attendees came from around the country; made up of family members, supporters and alumni.

Although many will leave disappointed this evening, there have been reports that the FS team are working to try and reschedule the event. Watch this space for updates.

Update, 12/2: The show has been tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday 14th February, pending confirmation.
