The Food of Opening Ball

Bring cash and empty tummies.

La Crêperie

Founded in 2014, the Crêperie is a welcome sight across St Andrews. Tonight, they will leave their usual haunt of The Vic, instead gracing Lower College Lawn with their nutella-infused presence. Sweet or savoury, large or small – there is no crêpe order that these French fellows cannot handle. For Opening Ball, they will be running a special contest: Take a selfie with your crêpe and post it on Facebook, making sure to tag La Crêperie when you do so. The most creative crêpe selfie will win a free crêpe next week at The Vic.

BlackHorn

Burgers, wraps, and hotdogs handily compliment champagne and gin shots. Although a relatively new addition to the University’s 600 year history, there is not a student at St Andrews who can remember a time before the BlackHorn food truck. Efficient, reliable, and affordable, there is little fault that can be found in the familiar black trailer.

Toro

It wouldn’t be Opening Ball without a “black tie” food option. Run entirely by students, Toro organises a variety of tapas events throughout the school year. Their ethos can be best characterised as upscale finger food. On the menu for tonight: Asian-inspired, dry-aged beef tacos with chimichurri and aioli, served alongside a choice of cheese, guacamole, and truffle oil.

In addition to these three vendors, complimentary Janettas ice cream and popcorn will be available throughout the night.
