The On The Rocks Festival is the largest student-run arts festival in the UK. Organised by a committee of St Andrews students, the annual festival offers ten days of non-stop art events. On The Rocks gives the St Andrews community as well as the greater Fife area the opportunity to come together and define what art means to each individual.
To celebrate the tenth birthday of the festival, which will be returning to St Andrews in April 2018, On The Rocks will be hosting an event on Saturday 18 November from 12 – 8 pm. The launch will take place on the top floor of St Andrews’ Student Association, at St Mary’s Place.
This event will be an immersive art exhibition celebrating the best of the creativity St Andrews has to offer. Centred around the theme ‘Life in St Andrews’, the event includes a programme of craft workshops running throughout the day, with multiple opportunities to get involved. Visitors will be able to view art exhibitions, submit artwork, and even get to try their hand at crafting something to take home from the event.
The art displayed will incorporate many different mediums, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, creative writing, film, tech, story-telling and music.
Refreshingly, the art installation will not be exhibiting exclusively student artwork, as around 25% of the work on display will be sourced from artists outside of the University.
Tickets cost £5, and act as an all day pass to the exhibit. These can be purchased through the yourunion.net website.
A limited number of tickets is available, so don’t miss out!
