What’s Coming Up On The Rocks?

Take a look at what’s in store for On The Rocks 2018.

The On The Rocks Festival is the largest student-run arts festival in the UK. Organised by a committee of St Andrews students, the annual festival offers ten days of non-stop art events. On The Rocks gives the St Andrews community as well as the greater Fife area the opportunity to come together and define what art means to each individual.

To celebrate the tenth birthday of the festival, which will be returning to St Andrews in April 2018, On The Rocks will be hosting an event on Saturday 18 November from 12 – 8 pm. The launch will take place on the top floor of St Andrews’ Student Association, at St Mary’s Place.

This event will be an immersive art exhibition celebrating the best of the creativity St Andrews has to offer. Centred around the theme  ‘Life in St Andrews’, the event includes a  programme of craft workshops running throughout the day, with multiple opportunities to get involved. Visitors will be able to view art exhibitions, submit artwork, and even get to try their hand at crafting something to take home from the event.

The art displayed will incorporate many different mediums, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, creative writing, film, tech, story-telling and music.

Refreshingly, the art installation will not be exhibiting exclusively student artwork, as around 25% of the work on display will be sourced from artists outside of the University.

Tickets cost £5, and act as an all day pass to the exhibit. These can be purchased through the yourunion.net website.

A limited number of tickets is available, so don’t miss out!

  2. PBN sites
We will build a web of privately-owned blog network sites!

    Merits of our PBN network:

WE DO everything so Google DOES NOT understand that THIS IS A PBN network!!!

1- We buy web domains from various registrars

2- The principal site is hosted on a VPS server (Virtual Private Server is high-speed hosting)

3- Additional sites are on distinct hostings

4- We attribute a separate Google ID to each site with verification in Search Console.

5- We develop websites on WP, we don’t utilise plugins with the help of which Trojans penetrate and through which pages on your websites are created.

6- We don’t reproduce templates and utilise only unique text and pictures

We do not work with website design; the client, if desired, can then edit the websites to suit his wishes

Understanding COSC Validation and Its Importance in Horology
COSC Accreditation and its Rigorous Criteria
COSC, or the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Agency, is the authorized Swiss testing agency that certifies the precision and accuracy of wristwatches. COSC certification is a sign of quality craftsmanship and reliability in timekeeping. Not all timepiece brands follow COSC accreditation, such as Hublot, which instead sticks to its proprietary demanding criteria with mechanisms like the UNICO, achieving similar precision.

    The Science of Precision Chronometry
The central mechanism of a mechanized timepiece involves the spring, which provides power as it unwinds. This system, however, can be prone to environmental factors that may impact its precision. COSC-certified mechanisms undergo strict testing—over fifteen days in various conditions (5 positions, 3 temperatures)—to ensure their durability and reliability. The tests evaluate:

Typical daily rate precision between -4 and +6 secs.
Mean variation, peak variation levels, and effects of temperature changes.
    Why COSC Certification Is Important
For timepiece fans and collectors, a COSC-certified timepiece isn’t just a piece of tech but a testament to lasting excellence and precision. It signifies a timepiece that:

    Presents exceptional dependability and accuracy.
Offers assurance of quality across the whole construction of the timepiece.
Is apt to maintain its value better, making it a wise investment.
    Famous Timepiece Manufacturers
Several renowned brands prioritize COSC validation for their watches, including Rolex, Omega, Breitling, and Longines, among others. Longines, for instance, offers collections like the Archive and Soul, which feature COSC-certified mechanisms equipped with cutting-edge materials like silicon equilibrium suspensions to improve durability and efficiency.

Historic Background and the Evolution of Timepieces
The notion of the timepiece originates back to the need for exact timekeeping for navigational at sea, emphasized by John Harrison’s work in the 18th century. Since the formal establishment of Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres in 1973, the validation has become a benchmark for judging the accuracy of luxury watches, continuing a tradition of excellence in watchmaking.

Owning a COSC-certified timepiece is more than an visual choice; it’s a commitment to excellence and accuracy. For those valuing accuracy above all, the COSC validation offers peacefulness of thoughts, ensuring that each certified watch will function dependably under various conditions. Whether for personal contentment or as an investment, COSC-validated timepieces stand out in the world of horology, bearing on a tradition of precise timekeeping.
