Band Stand Friday Mix

George’s Weekly Mix

HOT & FRESH – get it while its hot

Brand new music from the eclectic Earl Sweatshirt “Nowhere2go” is an interesting tune that makes me want to hear more from his upcoming album. As is probably now obvious, Anderson .Paak is up on my favourite artists. Find “Brother’s Keeper” from his newest album, released last Friday. “Movement” from Hozier’s new album is a powerful and soulful song worth putting on repeat.

ICYMI – In case you missed it

A Billie Eilish remix from the live mixing duo Marian Hill, “Bellyache”, is a song to strut to. “untitled 06 06.30.2014” by Kendrick Lamar is one of my favourite from the unreleased tracks album, this one contains a particularly good jazz component. Taking the world by storm in 2017 with their Saturation series of albums, BROCKHAMPTON returned recently with a new album including the track “DISTRICT”.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY – forgotten favourites

From funk legends The Gap Band, “Outstanding” is a groovy tune, for the keen eared among you, the vocal run in the chorus is used on “911/ Mr. Lonely’ by Tyler, the Creator. If you’re looking for lyrical mastery, let me introduce you to the equivalent of the holy grail, “All Caps” by Madvillain, your favourite rappers favourite rapper.

GEORGE’S PICKS – the man with a face for radio

“Molasses” by Haitus Kaiyote is a funky jazz-funk tune that I’ve really been enjoying. “Why iii Love The Moon” by Phony Ppl is a reggae-funk mix soothing to the ears.
