House Fire on Queens Gardens

Students have been evacuated.

This afternoon, a fire started in a student home on Queens Gardens.

The students of the house called the fire department at 13.15, with a fire engine arriving moments later. The house is split into 20A and 20B, meaning an evacuation of both properties was required.

In addition to that, some students from the neighbouring hall of residence St Regulus were evacuated. Smoke billowed out the front door, and firemen blocked off the entrance.

As the streets filled with people, a second fire engine arrive at 13.37. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

The University maintenance service arrived at 13.41, and have cornered off a large section of Queens Gardens while the fire department start their investigation.
