The Kate Kennedy Sixes Kicks Off Revision

Held annually in support of local Fife charities, the Kate Kennedy Sixes presents a relaxed start to the revision period. Following a weekend spent recovering from the St Andrews Charity Polo Tournament, students may journey to the Sports Centre for a sunny few hours spent watching or playing football. As usual, the games will be held on the astroturf, meaning that appropriate footwear (i.e. no studs) is advised.

The KK Sixes is formatted with an initial group stage, then knockout. Teams of six face off in rapid succession, playing ten minute games that leave room for one or two subs to switch in between the five minute halves. The final team left standing will take home the grand prize: a crate of lager and the KK Sixes trophy.

Free to all spectators, the tournament carries an entry fee of £20 per team. All profits will be donated to this year’s chosen charities: Home-Start East Fife, Children First, and Worldwide Cancer Research. Attendees will have access to the tournament itself and some delicious BBQ, alongside a range of drinks and refreshments available for purchase.

A laid-back alternative to the recent Rugby 7s, the tournament welcomes a range of talent. Year, subject, gender, and proclivity for football are irrelevant so long as a team name can be settled on amongst the six of you. Tournament organiser Gus Giddins encourages teams of any ability to enter by midday on Thursday 20th April.
