With a strong impression left from last November’s Szentek event, the 2017-2018 committee had big boots to fill at Wednesday night’s Szentek Launch Party, affectionately dubbed The Electric Launch-aloo. With tickets being just £4 and a great lineup of artists including Tom Hurst (of the Wax Collective!), Recluse & Max Dupe, Content and Jupiter Whistles, Szentek’s 2017 debut was undoubtedly the most anticipated event of the week.

Walking into the newly redesigned Vic, the level of attention to detail devoted to transforming a classic St Andrews venue into a more boho, rave-esque environment was immediately evident. From the reimagined bathroom mirrors to the tapestries hanging from the ceiling in the main bar area, it was clear that Szentek was not messing around when it came to ambiance. Many people I spoke to specifically mentioned that the art adorning the walls in the dance areas was one of the most interesting aspects of the night.

Upon entering, ravers were immediately greeted by the tantalising aroma of cooking. Initially confusing, the source was made obvious when one reached the top of the stairs and was greeted by local pop-up, La Creperie – providing much appreciated dance fuel for just £3.

A bit slow to start, the dance floor was’t truly flooded until around 11:45. This allowed the more keen attendees to get properly bevved with short drink lines at both of the social club’s bars. Not that this was required to have a good time – one dancer informing me that “Szentek keeps me dancing all night long, even without a single drop of alcohol.” His not being influenced by even “a single drop of alcohol” could be debated, but the sentiment remains – the infectious beat and cozy atmosphere allowed anyone to have a great time, no matter their level of sobriety.

The main feature of the night and real appeal of Szentek is the superbly unique blend of techno house music it consistently serves up. Regular fans of the genre were delighted by a robust line up of St Andrews’ most popular DJs, while others not as familiar with the particular scene displayed on Wednesday night easily found something they were able to jive to. One attendee I spoke to told me that he normally wasn’t the biggest fan of techno music, but was pleasantly surprised by what a good time he was having getting down to a genre of music not typically in his wheelhouse.

The enthusiasm of the attendees was infectious and heightened the atmosphere on the whole. All together, Szentek provided a great night out and left many eagerly anticipating the main event being held on 16 November at Kinkell Byre.

    Hi all, got scammed by this website. Saw that there were a couple of post informing about this but just wanted to give more details
    Paid for the three day offer and with the confirmation of the subscription, got two mails from hornycontacts.com and loveaholics.com asking me to confirm my email. Didn’t pay attention and deleted them.
    I immediately canceled the subscription in flirt.com without any issue and on the last day it changed to a standard membership so since it was bs site, cancelled the account as well.
    So I was happy and watching a movie when I got an sms from my card provider telling me that I got a 71.78 euros charge from fry frtlsp.com. Never heard of them, so I called my card provider and cancelled my card and will request the return of the money as well.
    Then I realized that maybe these two websites also by some miracle signed me up to a paid subscription… so I logged in… had to recover the passwords because they were not the one I used in flirt.com… and surprise, loveaholics.com did signed me up for a paid subscription without me being aware (pretty sure that somewhere during the signing process in flirt there was something checked and didn’t pay attention.). So I had to cancel subscription and account in these two other sites.
    So, sorry for the long post but in summary…. do not use flirt.com at all!!!
    Yes, FLIRT.COM it is a scamming website. It sign you on multiple websites like askme4date.com . It bombard you with emails that you receive messages, and you need to pay to see them. After you pay you see the messages. All messages are from BOTS. No real person.
    It’s subscribing to automatic renewal and it’s hard to cancel renewal. They push you to a complicated scheme. I’m not even sure the renewal canceling works. After
