1. Kate Kennedy Club Bejant Drinks
Fresh off another successful Opening Ball, the KK will host their annual recruitment drinks on Tuesday the 17th at the Hams Hame. The Club, known for hosting both Opening Ball and May Ball, was established in 1926 with the goal of maintaining the Kate Kennedy Procession. Proceeds from their events are donated to local Fife charities. First year (“bejant”) ladies and gentlemen are able to claim a complimentary drink whilst learning more about the KK, beginning at 7.30 pm. Jacket and tie for gents, the equivalent for ladies.
It may be Raisin Weekend, but St Andrews students will always find a way to sesh. Acclaimed Norwegian DJ Finnebassen will grace Younger Hall with his presence for one big pre-Raisin blowout.
With past themes such as Harry Potter and Nightmare Before Christmas, expectations are high for the Mermaids’ annual Christmas Ball. The theme will be revealed in Beacon Bar on Thursday evening, where two free tickets to the notoriously sell-out ball will be on offer to all attendees.
Another regular sell-out, Heat returns to The Rule for its latest steamy instalment. Early arrival is recommended.
5. Raisin Sunday
Locals lock their doors for the rowdiest Sunday of the year. Costumes, scavenger hunts, and North Sea dips are staples of Raisin, easily the strangest tradition that St Andrews has to offer. Whether you’re a child or parent, best ensure a good night’s rest on Saturday. Protip: Wear sunglasses to the foam fight. Your eyes will thank us.
