Now in its ninety-second year, the Kate Kennedy Club have been the custodians of St Andrews traditions, both old and new. Although it is a relatively recent tradition, May Ball is a well-deserved staple of the St Andrews social scene. Acts such as Julio Bashmore, Duke Dumont, and Felix Jaehn have graced the Kinkell Byre stage. This year, guided by Ball Convenor Isabela Campos de Almeida, three different music sections will accommodate the 2,000-plus person event.
On the main stage, Yungen will make an appearance, fresh off his top ten UK singles “Bestie” and “Mind on It”. Similarly, producer Redlight will perform his chart-topping single “Lost in Your Love.” While both Yungen and Redlight are headline-worthy acts in their own right, the night’s official headliner is Sam Feldt, the Platinum-selling Dutch DJ and producer. After performing at Coachella, Tomorrowland, and EXIT Festival, among other sellout events, he will undoubtedly provide St Andrews with some spectacular tunes.
In comparison to previous years, Standard and VIP ticket prices have slightly increased, a reflection of rising supplier costs. However, The Kate Kennedy Club assures us that these prices will be matched by the improved venue: VIP guests will have access to complimentary doughnuts, churros, and popcorn. VIP guests will also have access to their own separate marquee, a separate lounge area, bar and DJs, and a champagne reception, as well as an earlier arrival time. They can then join Standard guests on any one of the three fairground rides.
Aside from complimentary candy floss, all guests will also have access to a variety of food options. Far from the typical BlackHorn, the KK have procured an exciting array of food trucks, including a delectable Belgian waffle vendor.
Since its inception, May Ball has donated tens of thousands of pounds to local Scottish charities. Regardless of age, every student is guaranteed to find something magical about the final night out of the year. Tickets are now on sale.
