Students engage with On the Rocks

On the Rocks Returns

Ahead of their festival plans for the coming year, don’t miss out on an opportunity to celebrate the arts in all its forms at Served: On the Rocks this Friday.

On the Rocks is back, this time to celebrate their annual launch with an evening of St Andrews’ finest local talent on Friday 14th September. At 7:30 the beacon bar will become alight with the soulful acoustics of Alice Melnik, the R&B inspired Finn Antrobus, The Hummingbirds’ famous a capella voices and Charmaine on behalf of FOUND. The evening is set to provide a taster of what On The Rocks sets out to do each year: to foster creativity and to provide a platform for the arts to thrive. The festival itself spans several days next semester and has a similar feel to Edinburgh Fringe with a mismatch of shows, music and other forms of creative entertainment for free or for seriously low prices.

Subcommittee applications opened the 10th of September for those inspired to become a part of what is not only St Andrews’ largest celebration of the arts but also the largest student arts festival in the UK. On subcommittee you would be given the chance to be part of the team behind it all with a role to suit you – from press to marketing, managing, tech and beyond.

For those more performance inclined, On The Rocks is set to open an application for events on October 1st. You would become an integral part of On the Rocks performances providing the face of the festival with an excellent opportunity to showcase yourself as one of the best that St Andrews has to offer.

If you are unable to attend Friday’s opening launch fear not! On The Rocks will be hosting a similar event in November so keep your eyes peeled for more information to be released later in the semester. Additionally, you can meet the team themselves at Freshers Fair on Sunday at their stall running from 12-5pm, or at the student run Saturday Night Live coming up.
