Top Five Things to Do

The top five things to do this week, from October 31st-November 6th.

With Halloween festivities not quite over just yet, and a dizzying mixture of black-tie balls, student theatre, workshops and raves on offer, Week 8 is bound to keep us all busy.

Fright Night, Monday 31st October at 10:30pm

The Union is hosting their annual whole-building Halloween party, which is always a sell-out. With themed cocktails in Beacon Bar, the chance to win an £100 prize for the best costume and tickets priced at a modest £10, enjoy a Halloween party that doesn’t break the bank. The History Boys, Tuesday 1st November at 7:30pm

Mermaids is back with another student-produced play, Alan Bennett’s The History Boys. Join the cast as they transport you to a grammar school in Sheffield, where eight boys attempt their Oxbridge examinations guided by their eccentric teachers. For more information: rb.gy/wnp5nz

Laundry Club: Learn to Mix, Saturday 5th November at 1pm

Always wanted to have a stint behind the decks? Join Dance Worm as they bring together some of St Andrews’ best collectives (think Behave, Szentek, Down to Funk and Wax) for a mixing workshop aimed at female and non-binary aspiring DJs. For more information: rb.gy/0ynwp4

Welly Ball, Saturday 5th November at 6:30pm/10pm

After a busy Halloween weekend, perhaps what you want is a quiet night in – but Welly Ball is definitely not one to be missed. Bringing together students from St Andrews and further afield for one of the largest university black-tie events in the country, featuring a sit-down dinner followed by an afterparty, Welly Ball is consistently one of the highlights of the town’s social calendar. If you’ve been lucky enough to get your hands on an afterparty ticket after they sold out in under a minute, don your favourite pair of wellies and head to Falside Mill for a night to remember. Wax Rooms: Joey Mousepads, Sunday 6th November at 5:45pm

Head to the basement of Aikman’s on for another of Wax Rooms’ Sunday dance parties. Promising a sped-up set delivered by Joey Mousepads, the founder of Fast Muzik, expect hardcore, old-school rave, donk and bounce music. For mofe information: rb.gy/cpoviz

  1. Appreciating the hard work you put into your site and in depth information you present. It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same old rehashed material. Fantastic read! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.

  78. Hi there this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
