The Lizard Promises a Tuesday of Steamy, Slizardy Fun

The Stand previews one of The Lizard’s many Freshers’ Week events.

Although The Vic and Ma Bells have their benefits, The Lizard stands a step above the rest solely for its status as a bona fide nightclub. Open only when the sun goes down, this St Andrean landmark attracts students and locals from all walks of life: Hen parties, society events and famous golfers feel the lure of the kaleidoscopic dancefloor, of the classic tunes, of the peerless bar service. A legend over twenty years in the making, The Lizard is unquestionably an integral part of our daily (and nightly) lives.

Open every night throughout Freshers’ Week, The Liz has the opportunity to showcase a variety of vibes and soundtracks. Resident DJ Iain will temporarily retire on Tuesday night to allow Glasgow-based DJ Leon Hay the chance to grace us with his mixing talents. A longstanding patron of The Lizard, Leon promises songs of the classic and underground persuasions, with the ultimate goal being an atmosphere that is both “funky and fun.”

The Lizard possesses a surreal, otherworldly quality, something that Leon intends to capture and make his own. Daft Punk, Gregory Porter and Cece Peniston will echo through The Liz’s state of the art sound system, the soundtrack to an inevitably unforgettable evening. This Tuesday, guests can expect to witness a different side to a standard night out – possibly the finest night The Lizard has ever seen.
