Following a website relaunch and a re-rebranding, The Stand has returned to deliver the excellent content that it has been known for since 2011. This would not be possible without our team of editors, writers and photographers. Throughout the year, the committee works hard to ensure that the Stand retains the high standard of journalism that our founders set. If you aspire to see your name in print and feel qualified to join the local press scene, then we welcome your application.
We help our readers find love with the One Night Stand project, teach them the secrets of the catwalk through our In the Life of a Model series, and provide validation via the (admittedly subjective) Best Dressed feature. We offer breaking news coverage and keep a running commentary on the state of St Andrews, chronicling student life in the voice of those who know it best – “for students, by students.”
Joining the Stand will provide you with invaluable experience in reporting, marketing, teamwork, delegating, and writing. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and on our commitment to the students of St Andrews, as we promote student talent on multiple levels: Writers and photographers have their work showcased on our site, and clubs or societies can advertise with us at a discounted rate. Whether you are a creator or a consumer, The Stand offers an avenue for any ambition.
Currently our executive editorial team is accepting applications for Sports Editor. We are also accepting applications for Deputy Sports Editor and Deputy Fashion Editor. Finally, we welcome applications to join our team of staff writers and photographers, for which we recruit on a rolling basis.
- Sports Editor
- Recruit and manage the Sports writing team
- Edit all submitted work for the Sports section
- Contribute at least one article per week
- Provide coverage on the AU and the Saints
- Attend weekly editorial meetings

- Act as the section editor’s primary point of contact on the writing team
